The Kishwaukee Valley Heritage Society will host Fiber Arts artisans demonstrating their various skills and techniques for a Family Fiber Arts Celebration on Saturday, May 18, from 1 to 4. Visitors can interact with the exhibitors as they demonstrate lacemaking, stitching beanbags on a pedal-operated sewing machine, hand-quilting, basketmaking, carding Alpaca wool, and more. Children will experience old-time activities such as bubble-making, filling beanbags after shelling corn, doing laundry with a washboard and wringer, rag hair-curling, and rope-making. The museum store will be open and artisan craftwork will be sold. Refreshments and homemade ice-cream will be available for purchase, and live music will add to the festive experience!
